Gold Digger (1999)

Gold Digger (1999)

The comic has tons of action, comedy, and isn't shy about the cheesecake, or beefcake for that matter. It's been written and drawn by the same creator since issue #1, so the writing is consistent throughout the series and the characters grow and develop over a long time unlike many western comics where it feels like you're reading a different book every time the artist/writer team swaps out.

The Realm (1986)

The Realm (1986)

It all begins here. The epic fantasy series for those that enjoy Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Dungeons and Dragons, and Game of Thrones. Here is the introductory issue and sets the stage for the magic and Middle Earth adventures that will be unveiled. Four normal modern day teenagers are plunged into a world they thought only existed in novels and film. They are whisked away to a magical land where dragons roam the skies, orcs and hobgoblins terrorize weary travelers, dark magic consumes kingdoms, and where unicorns prance through the forest. It is a world where man is just one race, joining other races such as elves, trolls, dwarves, changelings, and the dreaded creatures who steal the night. This is not a typical "dungeons and dragons" world, for this world follows the adventures of these wayward teens into the unknown as we watch the world unfold in front of their (and our) eyes. Luckily for some of them, they are saved and then joined by an escaped slave, the female elven named Silverfawn. It was a world of magic, of enchantment, of adventure and of death.

Books of Magic

Books of Magic

DC Comics originally tasked  writer J.M. DeMatteis to come  up with a new series that  would  focus on DC  various  magical properties. Although the project  initially  fell through, DC later  approached  Neil Gaiman to pen the mini-series. Gaiman introduced the young boy Tim Hunter as his protagonist and had four mystics John Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Dr. Occult and Mister E lead Tim on a journey acrros time and space while meeting almost every magical or supernatural character in the DC Universe.  Each issue was painted by a different artist, John Bolton, Scott Hampton, Charles Vess and Paul Johnson. The series proved popular and Tim Hunter's adventures continued into the Mister E mini-series and Arcana Annual before landing his own ongoing The Books of Magic in 1994 under Vertigo.  Although this miniseries was published by DC, the numerous spin-offs were all published under the then new mature reader's imprint, Vertigo.
